I was born in Casablanca and studied at the school "Les Beaux Arts" of Fine Art in Morocco. During this time, I was selected for an engraving workshop at the Asilah Arts Festival. In 1988 I was accepted into the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC where I studied painting and photography.

While at the Corcoran I was awarded the Dean's Merit Scholarship. I moved to Australia in 1994 and continued my Bachelor Degree in painting and printmaking at the Canberra School of Art (Australian National University). In 1997 I graduated with First Class Honours and received three Graduation awards (the VETA award, Mallesons Acquisition Award and a Megalo printmaking residency award).

Since 1997 I have taken part in group and solo exhibitions in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Jordan and Morocco (Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat and Asilah). In 2001, I received the Wattan Art Prize at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. During 2015 and 2016 I was presented with both the ACT regional and the National African-Australian Awards for Professional Excellence. At Kenitra, Morocco in 2017 I received the International Honour Award for Moroccan Art & Culture. I was awarded the Australian Muslim Artists Art Prize in 2021.

I have been invited to participate annually in international artist’s residencies and symposiums of Moroccan Artists around the World and the Ayla International Arts Symposium in Jordan. My art is included in the national commemorative publication 50 Years of Art in Morocco.

Works have been acquired by the Australian War Memorial, the Australian National University, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, The Canberra Museum and Gallery, The Canberra Hospital, the Islamic Museum of Australia and Latrobe University in Melbourne and the National Museum of Australia. My art is featured on the covers of several Human Rights Commission reports including the National Ismaa Project.

My life story and artworks formed part of the Australian Journeys exhibition from 2009-2019 at the National Museum of Australia and the artworks on display were later acquired for the national collection in 2020 .
